HOW TO WEAR A BODYCON DRESS: EVEN WITH A FOOD BABY!

November is this amazing time of the year where you haven’t quite forgotten the taste of Diwali’s kajukatlis, but Christmas rum cakes have already started to lure you in. It’s the trying period, as an adult, where you must look your fashionable best, while still cradling your food baby.

But if the love of Jennifer Lopez has taught us something, it’s that no booty should ever be denied a bodycon dress!

You can’t go wrong with a Bodycon

Let’s all just agree that a well-fitted bodycon dress is any day better than a sack to make you look slimmer. The trick, though, is well-placed shapewear – quite easily the most underrated piece of awesome that womankind has been blessed with.

And I mean it when I say well placed, as choosing the right shapewear is just as important as choosing the right dress – it needs to target your problem areas bang on!

I’ve particularly been biased to these High-Waisted Shorts from Jockey that fit you directly under the bust, to your mid-thigh area, helping create a pleasing hourglass silhouette. And because this covers your entire torso, there’s no muffin top spill from over the waistband. All this means that your well-fitted evening gown will remain just that for the rest of the evening – magnificently well-fitted.

Being seamlessly seductive starts with the perfect sized shapewear

You want to make sure that your shape wear is seamless, especially under a solid colored dress! After all, the idea of shape wear is to draw attention away from the food baby, and visible lines will definitely bust your coup.

But from one curvy woman to another, if there is something I have learned the hard way, it is to always stick to buying my own size and not a size smaller. Yes, shapewear is supposed to make you look slimmer, but it needs to fit the body you have and not the body you want. So if that means you need to buy a measuring tape to know your inches, or to be measured in store, make that effort!

Stay simple, stay classy.

And now that you dress is sorted, take care to not over accessorize the look! Remember that your evening dress is the statement piece, so you must keep the bling simple. I’ve paired my look with a chrome choker, and a pair of matching earrings. As for makeup, I’ve chosen a bold mauve lip colour to complement the sultry dress, and the ever so dependable cat eye!
