ChaplinIt’s hard to picture Robert Downey Jr as a serious character actor after his role as the iconic Tony Stark. Yet, there was a time when his acting pedigree manifested itself with an Oscar nomination for his part as the legendary actor-director Charlie Chaplin.

Amedeo Modigliani’s first dialogue to Pablo Picasso sets the tone for the story about the life and perspectives of two great artists who influenced contemporary art. While one pioneered the use of geometric cuboid designs, the other preferred an old fashioned approach with women as subjects.
‘Modigliani’ is a film about the short and tragic life of the great artist who revelled in romance or ‘amore’. He was an eccentric individual who excelled at characteristic styles of female portraits, incidentally his love interests. An Italian Jew who fled Italy due to persecution by the Church, Amedeo Modigliani set up shop in Paris where he would find his inner calling.
The epic rivalry between the legendary Pablo Picasso and Amedeo Modigliani is brought to life through an art competition held in Paris in which Picasso and Modigliani reluctantly enter to prove once for all who reigned supreme.

Malcolm X
‘Malcolm X’ is a film that accurately represents the state of affairs at a time when the oppression of the black community in the United States was alarmingly high. Its narrative is driven through the life of one man, subject to the horrors of the Klu Klux Klan, thievery, a 6-year prison sentence, and a spiritual transformation.
Born Malcolm Little in Nebraska, USA, Malcolm X’s rise from a poor destitute boy and a petty thief to an influential public individual is portrayed effortlessly in the film. The movie takes us through the life he shares with his family before and after prison,his rise to influence and power, and the inspiration behind his humanitarian efforts.
Denzel Washington as Malcolm X is impeccable as the revolutionary leader who greatly impacted African-American politics.
It is not only a great watch but also a touching portrayal of a great man.
