Towel saves the day.
My haiku skills may be limited, but I know a thing or two about hair. Having had my fair share of bad hair days, I consider myself a quasi-expert on taming wild strands. Obviously, your first reaction to terrible tresses should be to shampoo your mane back into shape. But there’s so much more you can do. If you have a couple of hours to spare, you could treat yourself to a hair mask — the deep conditioning effect will keep your hair shiny, smooth, nourished, and moisturized. Or you could choose to go the DIY route with tried-and-tested coconut oil. If elaborate hair repair isn’t your jam, maybe you’re just looking for a new way to cover up your locks when they’re wet. Maybe you want to fashion a quick headband while you’re doing stuff to your face, keeping the sweat out of your eyes, or just getting annoying bangs out of the way. Whatever it is — there’s a towel style for you! Now, the standard twist-and-pile maneuver might be the easiest to manage — but if you have a whole range of cheery towels to choose from, why not switch up your look while you’re at it? I’ve picked the best of the lot, choosing styles that are easy to replicate, fun to look at, and — this is key — gentle on your scalp. No tugging and yanking for me, thanks. Shall we?
Number One — Old Faithful
This one is by far the easiest, and probably something you already do. It’s simple — place the towel over your head with the center on the back of your head and the rest of the towel facing forward. It’s easier if you bend forward and flip your hair over beforehand.
Once your locks are ensconced within the fabric, gather the towel — wrapping it around your hair — and begin twisting it.
Once fully twisted, stand up and twist it onto the top of your head — allowing the rest to fall naturally. You could secure it with a clip or pin if it feels wobbly.
A neat little twist on Old Faithful is reversing the direction so that the center of the towel is at the front of your head and the twist starts at the back and rests in the front. Switch up the twist by inverting it, starting with the center of the towel at the front of your head and the twist on top — secured with something if need be. This works best for a smallish towel. No one wants extra towel flapping in front of their eyes. 
Number Two — The Hat
A step up from the Old Faithful, The Hat employs the ol’ flip and twist but makes you look like you could be on a runway.
Start with the center of the towel at the back of your head. Gently move the towel to one side, and make a twist near the nape of your neck.
Instead of heaping the resulting pile on top, take the twist around your head to the other side and tuck the end into the side where you began.
It’s great for either very short or very long hair; medium-length hair would probably get pulled way past comfort levels. Ideally, you would need a thin, and fairly large towel. Fold it into a rectangle if it’s too wide, or in half to make a triangle. This also works really well if you fold a (fairly thin) towel into a triangle first.
Number Three — The Headband
This one is for when you need to keep the hair out of your face — for whatever reason.
Choose a small towel, and fold it in half to make a rectangle.
Starting with the center on the back of your head, bring the ends together and knot them near the middle of your forehead.
Tuck the ends into the band on either side and you’re sorted.
You could even do the reverse, knotting it at the back instead. 
Number Four — The Ponytail
Maybe you don’t want to literally squeeze the water out of your waves, or want to just encase your mane in something. This one is, by far, the simplest way to do that.
Just place the towel over your head and gather up the ends into a low ponytail at the back.
Secure it with a hair-tie, a large crocodile clip, or anything else you have at hand and you’re good to go! 
Number Five — The Bow
No clip? No problem. Take The Ponytail to the next level in two simple steps:
Create The Ponytail as you would, and gather it all together.
Tie both ends of the towel into a bow — the bigger the better!
If you’re feeling extra fancy, just shimmy the towel over to one side, and tie the ends into an obnoxious yet fabulously large bow. 
Bonus — Pro Tip
For those with thin or easily lost strands, a towel may be too heavy to wrap your hair with. For you, I recommend the very popular and very useful hack of using a t-shirt instead. Put your head through the bottom of the tee, and wrap up your hair like you normally would to take it from wet to nyet. Easy, light, and much more comfy!
